How much do Instagram influencers charge in India?

Typical Instagram Reel rates in India by follower tier, what drives the price up or down, and how to judge a fee using cost per engagement.

There is no official price list for Instagram creators in India. Fees depend on audience, niche, engagement and what you ask for. That said, rate cards tend to cluster by follower tier. The ranges below are indicative per-Reel fees to help you plan a budget. They are not quotes. Always judge a fee by what it is likely to deliver.

Indicative fee per Instagram Reel in India
TierFollowersTypical fee per Reel
Nano1K – 10K₹1,500 – ₹8,000
Micro10K – 100K₹8,000 – ₹40,000
Mid-tier100K – 500K₹30,000 – ₹1,50,000
Macro500K – 1M₹1,50,000 – ₹4,00,000
Mega1M+₹4,00,000 and up

What pushes a fee up or down

  • Niche. Finance, tech, beauty and parenting creators usually charge more than general lifestyle creators of the same size, because their audiences buy.
  • Views, not followers. A creator with 80K followers and 1 lakh views per Reel is often worth more than one with 2 lakh followers and 20K views.
  • Deliverables. A Reel plus 3 stories plus a link in bio costs more than a single Reel. Ask for itemised pricing.
  • Usage rights. Using the creator’s video in your own ads (or running it as a partnership ad) usually adds a fee, often priced per month of use.
  • Exclusivity. Asking a creator not to work with competitors for 30 to 90 days costs extra.
  • Turnaround and revisions. Rush timelines and multiple rounds of edits increase the fee.
  • Language and region. Regional-language creators can offer excellent value for brands selling in those markets.

Common pricing models

  • Fixed fee per deliverable: the most common model for Reels.
  • Barter: free product instead of a fee. Works with nano creators who genuinely want the product, rarely beyond.
  • Affiliate or commission: a share of sales through a code or link. Good as a bonus on top of a smaller fixed fee.
  • Hybrid: a lower fixed fee plus performance bonus.

Judge the fee with cost per engagement

Two numbers make any fee comparable across creators of different sizes:

  • Cost per engagement (CPE) = fee ÷ (likes + comments + shares + saves).
  • Cost per 1,000 views = fee ÷ views × 1,000.

Example: a creator charges ₹40,000 for a Reel that is expected to get 2,60,000 views and 10,400 engagements. Cost per engagement is ₹3.85 and cost per 1,000 views is about ₹154. Now compare that with the other creators on your shortlist. Lower is better, as long as the audience still matches your brief.

Try it with your own numbers in the influencer cost calculator.

How to negotiate fairly

  1. Share a clear brief and the full list of deliverables up front.
  2. Ask for recent Reel views and audience insights, not just follower count.
  3. Offer longer partnerships (3 Reels over 3 months) for a better per-Reel rate.
  4. Pay on time. Creators remember brands that pay late.
  5. Agree in writing how results will be shared, such as Insights screenshots 7 days after posting.

Paperwork to remember

Paid posts in India must be clearly disclosed under the ASCI guidelines for influencer advertising, for example with labels such as #ad or “Paid partnership”. Tax deduction rules can also apply to creator payments and to free products above a threshold (for example under Section 194R), so check with your CA before the campaign.
